BLOODJINN UPDATE 2-12-04

Feb. 12th, 2004 | 02:04 pm

Things have been hectic lately! Hope everyone has been safe.

========================

Justin Collins, drummer of Bloodjinn, had decided to leave the band. He will be stepping down from the group at his last show on February 28th, 2004 at Ace's Basement in Greensboro, NC. His decision to leave the band was based on personal reasons, as the band also has made decisions to focus fully on becoming full time. A statement from Justin:

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM JUSTIN COLLINS (DRUMMER OF BLOODJINN)

"This is the hardest decision I have ever had to make in my life, but walking away from Bloodjinn is just something I have to do at this time. I am approaching my 30th birthday and my body and mind cannot handle touring anymore and I do not want to hold Bloodjinn back from fulfilling the goals the band has set. I've gone back to school to get my teaching degree as well. I'm also getting married to my beautiful fiancee Meghan in August and it is just time for me to embrace my new life. I've made tons of friends and I have had so much fun at all of the shows, and on all of the tours for the past 8 years. I have also learned a lot from playing music. One of the things I have learned is that you should cherish every moment of your youth. My only advice is to not take being in bands so seriously that you ruin friendships or burn bridges. Your relationships with people are more important in the long run than any record is worth. I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the past 8 years and what you all have given me. Thank you very much and much love. February 28th will be my last show with my best friends and brothers in Bloodjinn."
~Justin of Bloodjinn

Bloodjinn has currently been auditioning drummers, and will continue to do so until the right person has been found. If any drummers are interested in trying out, email info@bloodjinn.com. Aside from the drummer status, the band is currently working on new material and have tracked a total of 5 new songs. A new mp3 will be posted very shortly. A new album is expected to be ready by fall 2004. However, there is a possibility that an EP will be released containing new tracks. The material is currently being placed in the hands of their management.

Well, I'm finally getting in another update.

Thanks to all that signed the journal... I'm making my rounds to post on all yours. Keep in touch with me! It was good to see some of you that I haven't seen in a very long time. Thanks for taking that time to type me...

I've had a pretty busy weekend. I've been working the admissions lately at Ace's Basement club. I guess it's become somewhat of a routine job now. Its like home, so why not! I'm always hanging out. It's a good chill spot. We have MAE coming in tonight, so that should be a good show.

Been working alot on various things from label to booking. Booking tours isn't the best job in the world, I will tell you that. If anyone is interested, you can check out my other band... www.selfportraitrock.com . I play bass in that band, and Ant from Bloodjinn plays guitar also. The other guys are from various other bands. Anyways, I'm working on a tour for Self Portrait this January through the southeast. So far it's coming along nicely. It's a little tough, since the name isn't that well known right now but hopefully it will work out. I'm also working hard on a tour for The Autumn Offering, which just signed to Stillborn Records, and the End Of All, who just signed to Venge Records not too long ago. Both will be touring the southeast together from Jan. 27th til Feb. 7th. Maybe if you live in the southeastern states, you can catch either tour... It'd be good to see you all if things work out for Self Portrait. Bloodjinn will be coming back too very soon!!!

So what's everyone getting for Christmas? Hopefully you will have a safe and happy holidays.

My birthday is coming up, Dec. 31st. I don't know whether to be happy or be sad, heh.
